Frequently Asked QuestionsQuick Answer
I have my B.A.S.S. number, now what?Once you have your B.A.S.S. membership number and personal details please fill out the registration form which is found HERE. Please reach out and contact York BM treasurer at treasurer@yorkbassmasters.com and finalize your Membership details (i.e. B.A.S.S. membership number, personal coordinates, boater or non-boater, and other related data).
Are you a member of B.A.S.S.?All members of York BM must first join B.A.S.S.  In so doing, you will receive Bassmaster magazine monthly.  Depending on when you join, you will receive bonus items simply for joining.  The cost is $30.00 US.  Simply go online to www.bassmaster.com (and scroll down to Membership) or call 1-877-BASS-USA.  Please be sure to make note of the membership number you shall receive, as you will need this later.
What is the benefit of joining York BM Club?York BM is a very multi-faceted membership.  We are people of various backgrounds who have come together to enjoy bass fishing, tournaments, conservation, and youth initiatives.  We actively participate in the Ontario B.A.S.S. Nation (www.ontariobass.com) and the B.A.S.S. Nation programs.  Our members also receive the B.A.S.S. Times newspaper from B.A.S.S., which is dedicated to members of Clubs throughout the world.  Whether you limit your bass fishing to activities within the Club, or whether you choose to fish in the broader spectrum of the OBN and B.A.S.S., your membership in York will allow you to learn and grow as an angler in ways you may not have imagined.
Is there a membership fee to join York Bassmasters?Yes, there is a small annual membership fee to join York Bassmasters. For new members, the initial membership fee is $150. For returning members, the annual membership fee is $120. Your membership will be valid from January 1st to December 31st of the year joined/renewed.
How do I fish in a York BM Tournament?Once you become a member of York BM, you are eligible to participate in all Club events, which include our ongoing Conservation initiatives, assisting with the York Jr. Bassmasters, and fish in Club Tournaments.  Our Tournament Committee tries their best to pair you with someone different each time out to allow you to learn and share your experience equally, as well as meet more of our membership. Some of our events involve weekends away, while others are single day events.  We have also joined two other Clubs and formed a Tournament Trail known as the HYPER Tour.  In this way our members can fish in larger events at a more modest cost, as they develop their bass tournament angling skills.  If you would like to learn more, please contact us at info@yorkbassmasters.com
What kind of boat do I require? You do not require a boat.  Our tournaments are based on both boaters and non-boaters, are paired randomly, and each boat operates as a single team.  Our boaters require $1,000,000.00 of liability insurance in order to enter as a boater, and each boat must have working live wells and a kill switch.  Depending on the size of your boat, it is recommended boaters think logically about the waters they will ply before entering an event (e.g. 16’ Aluminum boat on Lake Erie may be a poor decision if you are not an experienced boater).  All boaters and non-boaters requires their own CSA/Canadian Coast Guard approved life jacket, which must be worn whenever the main motor is started, and should bring their own rods, tackle (no live bait) and food/drink.  For further details, please consult our Tournament Rules.
How do I enter a Tournament and what does it cost? You can locate our Tournaments within the Calendar feature of our website.  Simply click on the event to bring up the electronic entry form.  Each tournament cost is $100.00 per Team.  To offset the cost of operating a boat (i.e. fuel, insurance, maintenance), all non-boaters pay the full entry fee price for the Team.  In addition, each non-boater is to pay their boater partner an additional $20.00 at the event towards operating costs.  Pairings are randomly drawn the Wednesday before the event, giving each Team the opportunity to communicate and plan in advance.  To assist with communications, our Club uses the “What’s App” phone app to form a group for each event.  For further details, If you have further questions, please send them to info@yorkbassmasters.com
What lakes does the club travel to?York BM traditionally tries to stay within a two hour radius of our meeting location (All Stars Wings, Vaughan, ON) when choosing locations to plan our tournaments, however we do extend that distance when planning special events (e.g. a weekend long event on the St. Lawrence River, Gananoque, ON).  Also, as York participates in the HYPER Tour with two other clubs, event distances may also get extended by the HYPER Tour Committee.  As such, each member can choose what best fits their personal planning each year, as our events are posted well before the start of fishing season on the Calendar within the website.  If you have further questions, please send them to info@yorkbassmasters.com .
